Who is responsible
The data controller is Bailey Lamb, a sole trader trading as UKTechExpert. Write to 16 Manorfields, Crawley, RH11 8GN or email info@uktechexpert.com with a privacy question or request.
Information you give us
For a paid shortlist, we receive your first name, email address, chosen service, product budget, priorities, current setup if supplied, immediate-start request, and order/payment references. We use these to arrange payment, research your shortlist, send it to you, answer follow-up questions and handle a cancellation or complaint. The contact form opens a draft in your own email app; the website does not send it until you choose to do so.
Why we use it
We use the details needed to prepare and deliver your shortlist because they are needed for our contract with you. We keep records where a tax or accounting law requires it. We use limited technical, payment and order information to protect checkout and resolve disputes, in our legitimate interest in running a secure and reliable service. We do not use your shortlist answers for marketing, automated decisions or profiling.
What we need from you
To provide the service, we need your first name, email address, chosen shortlist, product budget and the main things you want the product to do. Without these, we cannot prepare or email useful advice. Details of your current device or setup are optional, but can help us make the recommendation more relevant. Please do not include passwords, payment-card details or sensitive personal information.
Payment and service providers
Stripe handles card checkout; UKTechExpert does not receive your full card number. Vercel hosts the site, Neon stores paid-request records, Resend sends transactional emails and IONOS handles the business email mailbox. Those providers process data for their respective services. A retailer or research-source link opens another website with its own privacy practices. Some product images load from their source websites.
How long we keep details
We remove the full shortlist questionnaire from our order database around 11 months after payment, within 12 months after delivery. An abandoned unpaid request is removed after its payment status has been resolved. We review working copies in our business mailbox each month and remove them within 12 months after delivery, unless a dispute or legal duty requires a particular record for longer. Minimal transaction, consent and payment-reference records may be kept longer where needed for accounting, chargebacks or legal obligations. Resend says it keeps email content and delivery logs for 30 days while a Free account is active; its backups persist for seven days. Your own email copy remains under your control.
Your rights
You can ask to see or correct your information. Depending on the circumstances, you can also ask us to delete it, limit how we use it, or provide a copy for you to move elsewhere. Email info@uktechexpert.com. We will explain if a legal record-keeping duty means we cannot delete a particular transaction record immediately. You can complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office if you are unhappy with how we handle your information.
Objecting to some uses
You can object to our use of your information where we rely on legitimate interests, such as site security or handling a dispute. Email info@uktechexpert.com and we will consider your request under the applicable law.
International processing
Some service providers process information outside the UK. Resend stores message content and delivery logs in the United States even though our sending region is Ireland. Resend says UK transfers are covered by a UK addendum and standard contractual clauses in its data processing terms. We will confirm the arrangements for our other providers before live orders open. Email info@uktechexpert.com if you would like more information or a copy of the safeguards that apply to your data.
